Oh man, fallout 3 looks awesome. Those of you who are saying the gameplay is slow and boring likely didnt play the previous fallout games. Fallout 3 may be gritty and desaturated, but if you're expecting Gears of War, you're looking in the wrong place.
I recently got the opportunity to delve into games like Mass Effect 3, Saints Row the Third and Max Payne 3. These games have characters with poly counts that seem very high. How many polygons are most of today's games running per character?

I've got some point lights set only to channel 3 and a couple meshes also set to channel 3 only. Now the problem is that the same point lights are lighting meshes set to channel 4. Why is it lighting meshes set on a different channel? (using latest version of udk)

I like the second one of your 3 designs. I will try to come up with 3 rough designs at the end of the week and will detail them the other week. After some research, I might go for some fantasy shield, built with parts of animals !
