Redshift is not strictly necessary, it's just what we have available/purchased at the studio. I would be fine using Arnold if we can use it on our render farm, I haven't really looked into setting up a farm with Arnold. I'll look into seeing if it's affordable to get some render licenses for. If that's not a possibility,…
Currently learning Arnold, so I retextured the last face and started shading it in Arnold. Very WIP, no real work on eyebrows and eyelashes so far. Lots of areas need adjustments in terms of spec, but overall I feel like it is going into a good direction. Also something about the proportions seems a little weird but it…
Hello everybody I have a problem... I just painted in substance a component and now that I am rendering it using arnold {maya} I get really bad stretchings along the uvseams.. In substance you can use the triplanar projection and it does the job but when I import all the maps into arnold and render them out all the seams…
HI, guys, I started using Quixel few weeks ago but I have a problem matching result in Maya 2017. In 3do I see one thing but in maya other. Colours in Maya are not rich usually bland, sometimes normal maps are not visible at all. When I export Arnold (linear) colours are off completely, Arnold(Srgb) gives closer…
Thanks for the replies everyone @Cathodeus you were correct, I had Gamma/LUT correction enabled which was breaking my normal maps. I disabled it and they are looking much better, Ill use the shader poopipe mentioned, It would be nice to use the Arnold render/material setup however im pretty sure 3dsmax doesnt have an…
Arnold is an unbiased brute force pathtracer and 'AO' is resolved as part of the render. In other(older) offline and non brute force raytracing hacks like light cache and irradiance mapping are used to add the AO effect. Of course this doesn't drop you from rendering an AO AOV pass and comping in post. Arnold is actually…
Been digging into the sci-fi corridor zone, this one started out as just to re-create one from SWTOR into 'I want to do my own thing actually' maybe not the best approach but then again this one started out for an Arnold render and then went to U4E. Because lets face it, its probably better to grind U4E experience than…
Hello i am looking for solutions to properly light my interior scene in Arnold. It is a computer lab with limited windows. It has lots of reflective materials. Here is a screen shot from the scene. Whats the best way to render this with Arnold? I have also one more question about modeling. How can i harden those edges in…
Hey guys. This is pretty much the first time I'm uploading a more or less finished project to the internet. I sculpted it myself but the design is loosely based on a character from a work by Weta artist Tom Newbury, whose tutorials I recommend. The sculpt was done in Zbrush, textured in Mari and it is rendered with Arnold…
The issue is that the scanline renderer adds noise to the colours in the ID bake. Pushing things will have no effect. If you have designer you can use a quantize node to bring the values back into set ranges and solve the problem but I found its actually less trouble to simply patch it up in photoshop. It might be worth…
