While I'll agree that aesthetically it needs a little work, the basic layout and functional design is a definite improvement. Just getting rid of a lot of the old clutter and putting the key site features front and center is good good.
Does that section have a different smoothing group than the rest? Is your UV layout seamless in that area? Are all the vertices in that area welded? Can you show the normal map for that area? Could be any or all of these things.

Llucs suggestion of baking from one UV set to another it's the best option. This can be done in designer as well. simply make target object UVs match your desired atlas layout and bake to them from the original object.

Newtek-Lightwave 9 LW 9 will have real and total support for edge manipulation, as well as the modeling tools set is now acessible in Layout for those of you that want a single work environment! There are now also sub-d modeling with n-gons as well as faster sub-d surfaces in general.
Having a problem where when I open the UV editor the editor scales horizontally to fit both monitors, it's ridiculous. I was wondering if there was a way to save the size in a layout option somewhere or if I could control it's size by a script somehow. Any takers? Thanks!
Hey gang! Anyone know a reliable way/guide to transferring a set of pbr textures from one mesh to an identical mesh with a different UV layout? I had some trouble with the normal map last time I tried this from what I can remember. Thanks in advance
