I figure I'll start a thread for all my projects. That way I can help reduce clutter! Here are some things I've been working on of late. Firefly Gun: Bridge WIP: This new texture allowed me to save 115,000 tris w/o losing visual fidelity! Soda Machine Scene Sculpt:
god I hate the dentist, but I love insurance. $1500 of pain this round and I only have to pay a fifth of it. I wish that applied to the pain as well. One root canal from hell, 2 extractions and a couple of cavities. Anyone have similar things done know how long I should expect to be eating soft shit?
I am trying to do morph targets and i am using soft selection, edge and regular vertex selection to make facial expressions, when i am done i get an extra vertex! did this ever happen to you? what did you do, what am i doing? Thanks a million
I see constant suggestions to upgrade to w11. Should I? Blender, Adobe and Autodesk soft work ok on it ? Wacom drivers? Just wonder. My previous experience tells never upgrade Windows till one year passed at least and I still regret I killed Windows 7 on my pc. The best OS I ever worked with.
Thank you all @poopipe @Axi5 @Bruno Afonseca I decide to set the soft cap at ~3000 tris per prop and test them in a scene later. By then I should be able to reduce poly in 10s of thousands per scene (if necessary).
@CheeseOnToast, that's interesting. It's similar to this approach: http://wiki.splashdamage.com/index.php/An_Advanced_Terrain_and_Megatexture Do you usually "rock" sculpt stuff in this phase, adding detail, or just layout a rough guide for WM? On WM, you just erode and apply some soft noise?
Cool project :) Noticed your ground-materials blend a bit soft/blurry: Do you use height-maps for the blending? (see topic Height-Lerp: https://docs.unrealengine.com/en-us/Engine/Rendering/Materials/Functions/Reference/Texturing )
You can do something lightweight with vanilla modifiers. Not as robust maybe, but still... Vol Select on the ball, using the hand mesh as the selection source, and have Soft Select enabled. Then add a modifier to deform the selection with, like a Push set to negative.
i think your grooves and cuts are too soft overall. i wont bake very good u should go deeper and more exaggerate just alittle bit more than the ref now its softer than the ref
o.m.g. your landscape paintings are a bomb! Really love the soft transition of colors and its easiness, hard to explain.. it just pleases my eyes so much I could look at it forever (wouldn't mind having it on a wall in my room)!
