Theres not much I can say that hasn't already been said. I have to stress that the black backgrounds are a huge no-no. It makes it extremely difficult to see any subtleties in your work, and it also gives off an extremely student vibe, regardless of how great the animation is. Keep up the good work man!
I would never worry about the location of a student when applying (except when outside of the country). That studio might be opening a new studio somewhere else, or they might give you an amazing relocation bonus, or you might found out you like the city and area more than you expected.
What im looking for is something like photoshop where I can use layers and masks on top of 3d objects. I hear great things about bodypaint and the student version is only 150 bucks, I think i may go that route. Can you use layers and masks with Mudbox?
Well if this paper is going to be graded on academic merit by a liberal arts teacher rather than just making game art students write a paper to be graded by a game art teacher then maybe you SHOULD narrow it down to one or the other. The point of a thesis/research paper is to be as precise as possible with your subject…
Well a bachelors in game art or VFX isn't exactly worth much inside or outside the industry, without the portfolio/education to back it up. The average Gnomon student who applies themselves doesn't have much to worry about in the way of landing a job. With that said if I had my pick VFS rocks.
Thank you Mellon! I saw that this morning! some really sweet stuff for sure. We aren't going to use it in class, but as soon as I get approved for this https://www.unrealengine.com/blog/unreal-engine-4-free-for-students-through-github I'll be burning up my puny gtx-285 in no time ;)

Hey guys, I'm looking for an artist that has a completed scene/environment for UE4 that would be willing to have their assets added to a lighting tutorial that would be redistributed to students so they can follow along. If this is something that interests you send me an email with a link to images or video shots of your…
I created this tutorial for my students who kept asking how I went about doing this, so here it is in .jpg format. You can get a .pdf version on my website along with other tutorials at http://www.machinemeditation.com Please let me know if you notice any issues or have any questions.
Hello everyone! I am a Game Art and Animation student attending Champlain College in Burlington VT. This is my first time doing an online Sketchbook and I have yet to scan a lot of my sketches digitally. Here is one that I did manage to find: More will come as I scan/find them, feel free to critique them, thanks!
