Hello everyone! I am a Game Art and Animation student attending Champlain College in Burlington VT. This is my first time doing an online Sketchbook and I have yet to scan a lot of my sketches digitally. Here is one that I did manage to find:
More will come as I scan/find them, feel free to critique them,
thanks!

Other random sketches I managed to find on the ol computer:

messing around with brushes using only black and white
Some other projects I did:
Flak 88
(Highpoly modeling)
Harley Davidson Fatboy
High poly and low poly, my first attempted for lowpoly vehicle, I'm pretty sure I went too low poly and I know i definitely didnt spend enought time on the texturing (i was rushed) any tips for the unwrap would be greatly appreciated.

There's plenty of help to be found on the internets. Let me know if there are any other things I can help you with, I've just recently got back into 3d but have been finding a lot of helpful tutorials online.
I had a lot of trouble with the wheels and their tread texture. Normally I unwrap the cylinders by taking off their top and bottom and laying the walls so its a flat square. This technique however wouldn't work for these wheels because the tread would have a nasty seam going right down the middle of it..
The relax unwrap is really cool, I didn't know about that. I've basically been bringing the .obj files from Maya into Blender and then back into maya.
I was using roadkill but my friends and professors have convinced me that blenders a better program for unwrapping (plus its free!)
Also that tutorial is awesome! I love reading/watching them, if you have any other cool ones I'd love to read them!
Thanks
I've heard less is more so I tried for that.
I've seen the black and green card before and thought it was really cool, but through a number of reading I've read that people like to put notes and whatnot on the card so I thought I should make it a lighter color, am I wrong?
Then for the back of the card
Thanks for your help
Keep it up dude!
(she was a zombie bride, weddings dresses are HARD to draw...who knew?!)
also i decided on this for my card...for now (its not the most memorable but it'll get the job done for MIGS):
Had a lot of trouble figuring out how the hand should move in all the animation, seeing how they are being dragged and weight a lot.
Also is there a proper way of showing off animations? I was just using camstudio (its free!) and thought that rotating the character would be the best thing for people to see him in action.

For your animation walk/run cycles I must suggest that you should work on the animation on the Y scale a little more since the monster seems to be shifting sideways while running but not up and down.
If you look at the human walk cycle thoroughly you would know that his head would mildly tilt left and right based on his hand motion, and the human structure would mildly bounce based on the leg movement.
so you have everything in that animation walk cycle but not the mild bouncing.
These ones I'm pretty sure need more work.
One really big problem I was having was when I was using Motion Flow, I couldn't get the planted keys (IK keys) to work when I strung everything together. (I had the hands IKed to the box) Me and a bunch of my friends tried for hours trying to get it to work. Any tips/tricks?
Also is there a way I can show the video on these forums but make them smaller? like thumbnail size?
Thanks all!

This face was originally supposed to based off Bruce Willis but I think at this point I'm just gonna go for a face that looks human and is the right proportions. I'm not sure if I got a bad picture of him or not, but Bruce has a really big forehead and almost no upper lip. Learn something new every day, eh?
Thanks for the help in advanced all.
Have you tried out Mudbox or ZBrush to sculpt faces, instead of modeling them?
and that'll be the next step, I was under the impression the best thing to do was get a base mesh down and then bring it into zbrush/mudbox, right?
Good luck on your face sculpt!
updated face, not so long and narrow. I think i accidentally stretched the reference face in maya, lol to myself. Having trouble with the nose, but nothing a few more tutorials can't fix I hope
just learned about average vertices, making smoothing the face out much easier
Also ship concepts for a group game I'm working on, It'll eventually be 3D.

Does anyone know how to make the hover and active links which are on the same page two different sets of colors colors. I don't like the white borders around my images on my homepage, however they are white because the "3D Art" "Projects" and "Resume" are links which need to be white. I'd prefer if they were a darker color.I tried making is a footer and assigning that class to objects I want to be different from the a: active to .footer a:link Any help would be awesome! :poly002:
