Does anyone know whether hard edges made with vertex normals are faster in Source than just cutting the geometry at the said edge? So I´m doing a school project and need to import an obj file that was made in maya into 3ds max2011. But after I specify what I want to import I get this error, "ERROR - invalid normal index". If anyone has had this problem and been able to solve it then I would be grateful for tips.
This black artifacts appear when I use normal map with Flip Y checked (red ones). Blue zones also have extreme angles but are fine. This artifacts don't appear in Unreal Engine or Unity. Is there a way to fix this?
I'm looking for a plugin/tool that makes a normal map for a low poly mesh with rounded edges. I did a search for but found nothing, i cant remember if it was in another longer thread or if it had its own. Any clues?
