Say I wanted to rig a ball for animation. The ball mesh would be that of a fairy/fey type of being. What would be the best possible method for rigging such a creature and creating a control set to manage it? ( not that one would really be needed I guess ) Do i make a single bone?

Hi everyone, these are some new assets done for my characters and creatures. Usually it's hard to start from zero an entire character, so I've decided to put these on the Artstation Marketplace and Gumroad. ^^ I hope they will be useful! I came across this last night and it seems like it'll come in REALLY handy for my ZBrush study coming next month. http://www.touchpress.com/titles/skulls/ Basically, the app has hundreds of skulls from different creatures and sources, all with 360 turn tables. Beautiful!
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=676886640 My Inspiration for this came from the creatures in the Petranaki Arena from StarWars Episode 2 "attack of the clones". This is a WIP however i am currently working on a more retro arcade sci fi collection and will be uploaded those shortly.
I wanted to start posting this early and hopefully get some feedback. I did a quick concept sketch of the creature which is from World of Warcraft for those who don't know. I'm going to build this guy from scratch in zbrush to give zsketch a try. Anyways, here is the turnaround I did.

@tridentman: none of the concepts posted here or anywhere is free to use. If you want to use it, ask the creators for collaboration. Do the 3D modelling only after you've got the permission from the concept creators.
Some updates on the Buffalo/Bison beast creature. The eye colour is adjustable in Substance. The fur was made in part with Xgen (the larger bottom chunk) and Interactive groom, I found that using splines is quicker, but Interactive gave me a lot more hands-on control.
good advice on the render but it;s not a krogan, the grendal is based off the carnifex and other tyranid creatures from 40k, i am trying to embed the image but none of the "insert image" buttons are working (the link just 'breaks') ..oh wait that one worked
