Sad events over 2 years ago our game 'Red Awakening' didn't receive the funding it needed to go fully into development and the team has to disband. I was forced into a different industry... alien to me. I just use AutoCAD like everyday and it makes me sad. I now strive to return to where i feel my heart is. Game Dev...…
I'm in the same boat, except I'm about to turn 30. I expect that in about one more year of practice, I am going to be able to match some of my idols on artstation. And it looks like most of them have jobs, so I remain hopeful. But I feel you and totally understand the sentiment. Sometimes I feel great, other times I feel…
Probably not at all what you were asking for, but... I owe it all to my dad. When I was young, I wanted to draw. I told him that I wanted to be an artist. He was very busy at the time, be regardless, he dropped what he was doing and said something to the effect of "Lets go get you some stuff!" He's been encouraging and…
Alright, first off, I'm new here (I've been visiting the site/forum for several months, but this is my first post), so hello everyone. I'm a 3d artist hoping to one day get a job in the gaming industry. I'm the leader of a mod team creating a total conversion mod for Half Life 2 called The Arias Protocol. It will be…
Saw the movie this. It Looked awesome! The writing was not the best though. They also do current day songs in the mariachi style. Like playing Creep by Radiohead. Posting this here specifically because Polycount's audience cares about pipeline more than novelty, and that's the actual use case I built this for. Context I run Anvil Interactive Solutions — we ship Blender/UE5/Unity tooling (Quadify line, BlendUnreal, BlendUnity, a few others). BlenderMCP Pro came out of needing to do…
For my final project, I have been thinking a lot about the style I would like to adapt, as I like both stylized and realistic environments. I finally decided on an evironment inspired by the game No Rest fro the Wicked, which has a very specific painterly look, inspired a lot by the traditional baroque art by artists such…
From what I've heard, characters like the G-Man and Alyx were 6-7k triangles with 3x512x512 textures, however I'm betting those are lowered a bit when it comes to multiplayer characters. I'm currently aiming for a 5k characater with normal maps, a 512x512 map and a 1024x1024 map. Am I still too high?
