Nice looking work. Not sure about the head proportion though, seems a little big. Fishermen are hardworkers, so in my opinion it should be reflected a bit much into your project. I took those three references to illustrate my point. Uno (You probably used it yourself, am I right?) Dos Tres First and second images are alike…
Is it just me or do people think these new ZB3 materials are responsible for making work look better than it actually is? I tell the same thing to new students when they render with Mental Ray, or meshsmooth a model. If it looks good it looks good under any condition and if it doesn't look good under basic conditions it…
Thanks for the replies everyone. I think I'll experiment more with painted textures... though not as many jobs prefer this skill over more realistic approaches. shrew81: Reference away man. moose: lol, now i have to add unicorns!! what's true: The drinkable water idea came from the d2 'well', although I'm not sure if it…
It depends how photorealistic you want it to be .. if you want to really push it I dont think photosourcing the textures is the right way to go due to it being a fuzzy cloth material
you might just have to bite the bullet and proceed with the next steps even if the anatomy isn't perfect. By layering clothing and armour over the character, it'll help you gain more perspective and in turn will improve your anatomy. If you work with a non-destructive workflow, you can also always go back and improve…
Summarized: I didn't have a job in this field yet (I got a bachelors in Game Design though), you could say I come fresh from Uni. I have been getting back to doing 3D work and decided to sweep out my student work and fill my portfolio with the highest quality assets I can produce as of now. Thoughts and ideas would be…
Here's a little drawover I did for mainly the cloth. I think you can keep it simple, and try to focus on the big shapes of the wrinkles and folds. If you think about gravity, the wrinkles will probably come down from the shoulders, as thats where the cloth is resting when it is on your body. The best way though would be to…
kerchak is my new character. i'll be working on him trying to improve my workflow and skills. i'm trying to improve my hi-poly skills (most of my work so far has been low poly) and i'm not going to worry so much about polycount as i usually do. this will also serve as a sort of wip/production blog. i sketched him out a few…
So I've started on another project, this one in particular is going to be in my soon-to-be portfolio (once I get enough work to make a portfolio, so this is my first piece). Here is the run down, basically he is a teenage guy who "air boards" using a futuristic hoverboardish device. This is when cities have migrated from…
The following post will outline some of my finding from a quick study of other redesigned and updated characters To help with the design process a quick comparative look at other popular and graphically improved characters was required. Mario and Snake were chosen because they are both very popular/Easily recognisable and…
