I'm baking high poly geo onto low poly geo and primarily with cylinders i get these problems - the dark areas around the edges. is this only way to fix this with more geometry? and if so what is the most efficient way to add geometry to resolve this issue? e.g. chamfer or more sides on the cylinder. Thanks in advance
the normal map bakes perfectly fine except for this area that has these weird artifacts, the problem is solved by adding a couple of edge loops around this cut out, but i don't understand why, can someone explain what is happening?
I just got the strangest request from a client: he has a standard set of textures (diffuse + normal + specular) that he wants to convert to diffuse only. In other words, he wants the detail from normal + specular baked into the diffuse. He also told me to use a fixed lightsource, placed at the middle of the texture (to…
I've been working on a fully modeled colt revolver but have have gotten stuck in baking from my high to low in Substance Painter. Things I have made sure to use: 'Match By Mesh Name', adjusting the rear & frontal distances, put dilation to max, turn on anti-aliasing to 2x2. I'm pulling my hair out trying to figure out what…
I'm having this weird issue when I bake out my maps with this piece geo, I get this weird jagged, waviness. Now from what I can tell everything's straight in the high poly, but there are no faces on the inside part of the low poly. Google hasn't helped me, so hopefully you guys can.

I have very old card (radeon hd 6700), and always have visible seams on my normals(baking in Marmoset). Can i get rid of this problem if i use newer card? Can mesh format affect seams too? Is it preferabale to use OBJ's or FBX?
I'm trying to bake normal maps using XNormal, the preview shows the map just fine but the file I get has transparency in the empty space of the UV map. This has happened with all the models I tested. Anybody knows why?
