I'm trying to bake normal maps using XNormal, the preview shows the map just fine but the file I get has transparency in the empty space of the UV map. This has happened with all the models I tested. Anybody knows why?
That is correct behaviour iirc. granted it's been many years since I've needed xnormal but I seem to remember It saves a (useful, because no convienent matching/grouping settings in xnormal so compositing is not unusual) mask into the alpha channel.
There might be an output setting to turn off the mask.
Failing there being setting, I assume you are saving as a png, hence you getting transparency and not an alpha channel. From png you can convert transparency to mask and remove it or save as a tga from xnormal instead and delete the alpha channel.
