There are lots of things to consider when deciding if the PC can "run unreal" or not. like for starters what size is the screen you are printing to? I mention vista because I dont see you benifiting from teh 64 bits more than if that money was repurposed somewhere else on your PC hardware. certainly XP can "run unreal"…
Kryzon, answer is correct, but I believe that part of the help file was written before the getSelectedGeomVerts() function was added. It's easier now that you don't have to compare UV and Geo Verts from faces. ( --GET SELECTED GEO VERTS FROM SELECTED UV VERTS uvMod = modPanel.getCurrentObject() selVerts =…
In the past, artists aspiring to work in the game industry were generally hobbyists seeking to do what they loved on a full-time basis. These people relied on support from friends and the online community to get the input needed to succeed in their field. modelers, texture artists, and animators would post their…
Awesome stuff! I was actually surprised at how dense the meshes were. I assume it was because instead of relying on normal maps, you were using the mesh geo to get the cell shaded look from the shaders to achieve a specific desired look.
Haha thanks guys! I have the portrait on hiatus while I work on the garments etc for the rest of the character. Ultimately I'm gonna try to get this into unreal for the final renders. Fingers crossed I can get that done sooner rather than later.
This is a brain dump. Sorry if it seems a bit random: The main thing to remember is you have to prove you're better than the local talent. You have to give the foreign studio a reason to hire you. They incur a cost to help get you a visa and you will have to pay attorney costs as well if you want things to go smoothly. To…
Hello! I'm in the process of making my second character model. Taken a lot of mistakes and learning to get to this point. I've been stuck on something the past few days though, and I'm unsure whether I'm doing something wrong or if I misunderstand the process. I got a sculpt close enough, then moved to Blender for…
I made some tests, and the results with 4k texture aren't crispy enough. I have seen a lot of renders in Artstation with 4k textures with a very high res result, Why my renders only achieve this kind of details with 8k textures? The texel density is around 19px/cm.Still, I would like to say that after testing, If I double…
I’m a designer at a prop fabrication shop here in Burbank, and I’m reaching out to this community specifically because we’re looking for a very particular kind of unicorn. We’ve posted on the usual IATSE union boards and haven't found the right fit yet. The reason I’m posting here is that we don't just need a 3D modeler;…
For artists, get a degree if you can, especially if its paid for and if it will help you outside of the industry, just in case it ever folds or you get tired of working in it. Studios within the industry go boom and bust fairly regularly and that instability gets old for a lot of people. With that said, getting a degree…
