I was wondering if anybody here has worked on a racing/destruction derby type game? How do you generally approach the damage states of the vehicle? A bunch of separate pieces with separate textures that apply to those pieces?
Some thoughts about learning, problem solving, and feedback. Answer this question honestly when it feels like you're falling behind on a project or stuck on a particular problem: how much are you learning and how much are you getting done? Each project has it's own unique challenges. Sometimes it takes more time to learn…
[ QUOTE ] So you've got ONE guy who states some equations. What he doesn't include is the source of his equations, nor if that only covers ground radius. Radio frequencies can travel upward unobstructed. Then this guy further tried to state that his cell phone stopped working at specific altitudes. Did he have an…
Hi, I’m currently working on a ~10-minute 3D short film and I’m looking for an experienced rigger to collaborate on a main character. Project context * Personal short film (solo project) * Creature: quadruped with stylized semi-realistic anatomy * Software: Autodesk Maya (Arnold pipeline) * Goal: clean, animation-ready rig…
Hi. I've got a task that involves a few car crashes. I'm working with Max or Maya. I have modelled my cars and I'd like to know if there are any tips, scripts or techniques to make fairly realistic crash damage on my models. Ideally I'd like to somehow set up a car to drive at an object, have it collide with it and cause…
I need to perform actions on multiple objects at once, however maya does not allow some actions on multiple objects, so i must combine them first. This is a problem as i need to retain my objects order heieracy and name. is there a way i can restor the combined mesh to its uncombined state later?

The illegal immigrant/Cultural encystment issue may seem like a SW USA problem only. But it's not. I lived in a small semi-rural resort area in southern Wisconsin and it had problems with the hispanic community. Along with the workforce, they brought gang (or gang wannabe) activity to an otherwise white bread and cheese…
Personally I still check out the forum from time to time, I owe it (you all) and its wiki a lot. It's sad to see it right now though, I think it represents the decaying state of the industry. I hope we get to see better days again, this place makes me appreciate having a sense of community around 3D art. Seeing this thread…
