A couple of notes about your material practice circles: Don't forget that the circles you're using aren't just circles in the exercise. They're spheres. Whatever you texture them with should curve around the surface of the sphere. When you're texturing models you want to be aware of the forms of the mesh so you can texture…
Hello Polycount! I've come to realize that my documentation for any of my 3d work is lacking to say the least, so I'm starting this smaller project to try and get better at noting down every step of the way. If anyone has any feedback and/or critique on how I present my process, please let me know! :) Introduction I've…
If you were local to me in Austin I'd totally be up to collaborate on a custom built interface! See if there's any hackerspace/makerspace groups in your area, it isn't that hard to fabricate the circuitry needed. Foot pedals, dials, or a custom made control pad for your good hand could be fabricated without too much fuss.
First attempt at doing some hand painted work. I'm super new to all of this for what it's worth I'm happy with how it's turned out but I'm not satisfied with it. What do you guys think? Also when doing hand painted models do you guys like to sculpt on the base mesh in Zbrush and bake normals/AO on it then do the hand…
Finished: Concept: I put my dinosaur on hold so that I could learn to hand paint the textures. The other day Udemy had some tutorials on sale so I bought up all of the hand painted and mobile ones they had. Started watching the Tyson Murphy hand painted tutorial and this is where I currently am:
Does anybody have a favourite/recommended hand modelling tutorial? I'm making FPS hands and just need somewhere to start really. Its my first time modelling hands from scratch and I just want to make sure I get edge flow and things right from the beginning. There appear to be LOADS of tutorials out there but it would take…
Hi guys, I'm currently working on a small hand painted scene. I was inspired by a friend who does hand painted texturing to give it a try. I'm trying for diffuse only, no spec or normal. I may add lights though. I have never hand painted textures before and I'm definitely having difficulties so any feedback or critique…
this really depends on what work the studio has to offer to a junior. IMO choose what seems more appealing to you and tailor your portfolio around that so that you get hired to do what you want to do, and if you don't get hired at least you'll have had fun. Realistically you will need both, and there are like... a small…
Link to PSD Sharper edges pick up higher value highlights, especially if they're within the light sources direction. This is generally how I start my base metal for things completely hand painted. If I'm using reflection maps then I normally stop at the second part unless I'm looking to add specific highlights. Metals tend…
Greetings all! I have been taking some time to practice hand painting textures and making tileable textures out of them. Here's two textures I have done recently, I will be doing a rock texture next to keep practicing my hand painting techniques. The wood texture is a combo of zbrush and photoshop picked up from Jeff…
