Thanks everyone for the advice and suggestions. Next time I'll simplify the approach more! @Neox I started with those features, but persisted to add more geometry because the features didn't seem defined like the nostril loops which take smaller polygons to construct! They temptation overcame me! It seems now that…
I am wondering if in Maya there is a "Adjust Loops" tool similar to 3ds Max. When you pick a loop and use the up and down arrows it pinches or expands the edges on either side of selected loop.
Try "Duplicate edge loop" for harder corners. It will insert a new loop on each side of your existing loop. Also insert edge loop is nice for adding single loops. Bevel works like max's chamfer.
In Maya I simply control click a loop or ring, then double click a subsequent segment on that loop or ring to partially unselect it. Is this possible to do in max? I know there is window crossing but a complex partial ring/loop deselection when that ring/loop is going around the object would be highly useful.
Hi all, I'm a newb at 3ds Max, having mostly worked in Blender and Maya before. In Maya, I know one can create multiple evenly spaced edge loops by using the Insert Edge Loop tool and setting the number of loops using the channel box. Is there something similar in 3ds Max? So far I've only seen that it is possible to place…
Default cube: Apply a loop cut(Control R shortcut) and right click so it snaps perfectly down the middle: With the loop select apply Offset Edge Loop Cut(Control Shift R shortcut) this will give you two loops outside the original loop Move the mouse in order to scale the edge loops: Delete the original middle loop It is…
Hey guys! Just found this post because I was having the same issue (I was looking at a tutorial a new edge loop was suddenly created from others) and I found how it was done, and I think it's a good option in this case (or for someone else who sees this in the future): Insert edge loop with multi cut tool…
I'm looking for a way to select several sections of edge loops. In Max, say I want to select a section of an edge loop, I use step loop. But this only works for one step loop. I can't hold down ctrl and then select another step loop. I use various workarounds but none simple on hp objects. Have I missed an easy way to do…
You want to look into for loops. Here is a basic loop: for ($i=0; $i<5; ++$i) { print ( "Loop " + $i );} $i=0 : Starting value of the loop. 0 is most common $i<5 : Loop will continue to perform its actions as long as $i is less than 5. If $i is not less than 5, then the for loop stops. ++$i : After each loop, $i gains 1 to…
