Adding part loop selections in 3ds Max?

I'm looking for a way to select several sections of edge loops.

In Max, say I want to select a section of an edge loop, I use step loop. But this only works for one step loop. I can't hold down ctrl and then select another step loop. I use various workarounds but none simple on hp objects. Have I missed an easy way to do this?

This is just a simple example, so you get the point:

Step MODE lets you use ctrl like you want, step loop won't.

Perfect. Thanks Vig. For some reason I thought Step Mode was like dot and never tried it out.

Yea even their tooltip and expanded tooltip suck at explaining the difference. Good thing they take up a 3rd of the screen to tell you absolutely nothing... best UI design ever.
