Window > Settings / Preferences It will open to the interface dialog, simply select which windows you want to open in the main Maya UI window as part of the interface, or as a seperate floating window. EDIT : These are my settings : -
Damn that's cool. If they updated the interface to a more conventional system it would win hands down over Mudbox (IMO). They really should look into at least providing an optional interface that's more inline with other programs.
Blender has 3DSMax and Maya keyboard/mouse layouts available under the preferences. I think people also don't realize that Blender is being developed by a team of around 5 full time developers. For comparison Autodesk has around 80-100 full time developers. Now ponder on that for a moment, 5 developers means that not…
I really dislike the ribbon. It is slow, quirky and I'm just used to the old PolyBoost interface. Any technical artists out there figure out a way to get the old interface back? By luck I was also just wondering if it is maybe hidden or embedded in max2010?
I'm not the original poster, but that was enlightening. Thank you for the information. Just for clarification, he can use that 'EditPolyMod' interface (called a "standalone interface" I believe) but then he has to specify the object that it will act on. It seems to be faster (reference).

The look of the buttons and panels should change a bit, but the actual interface and workflow should stay about the same. It will be possible to not only set custom hotkeys and to have greater control of the interface through Python scripting. Exactly how it will all work in practice has yet to be revealed.
I should be OK then, as it does have NAT http://www.gconnect.net/hardware/binatone2000.asp Ethernet interface USB Interface Web based GUI for configuration assistance NAT for basic firewall support DHCP server DNS relay support
2.5 should have the interface upgrades your looking for. In addition to a new file browser and redoing all the buttons and menu layouts, they are also planning to add better Python/UI integration so perhaps there will soon be drop-in scripts to customize the interface any way you want.
