that's some nice tight detail. looks good, its a nice piece to test your displacement workflow on. actually with hires textures they don't do it like that, one big map. and you can have upwards of 400k of texture space on a film creature. that would be one big ass map what you want to do is take a shot at using multiple uv…
Heya Folks, Thanks for taking a look at my work and for the kind words! @HP I hope so! Crytek have long time been a dream of mine, howre things going over there? This isn't important really, because I think this image looks very good, but as someone who worked at Wayfair, I can tell you this image is a render-- what's important about your point is the realism, and I agree on all points. The lighting in this scene looks great, to me it's the chandelier and the SKU (tables and…
I make my normal maps using 3D studio max 8's Render to Texture function. So far the normals maps come out good. Any anomalies I fix up in Photoshop. So far everything's been ok. I've been steadily cranking out my work with no problem. Suddenly I ended up with this problem: http://home.comcast.net/~acknar/problem_1.jpg…

RESOLVED I'm trying to bake a normal map using 3DS Max's Render to Texture and it's not working at all. I followed this tutorial with some simple boxes. My problem is it's not rendering as the normal map color, but instead rendering as the material color. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong or if there's something…
Hey all, I ran into an issue and I'm hoping somebody has some insight. Basically...renders from the scanline renderer with a single skylight and light tracer stopped rendering shadows. In Viewport: Render: I've had this happen before, but restarting my PC and/or importing all objects in scene into a new one fixed the…
yes with maxscript you can for example hide the render window and for example render only sections. I am not 100% if that section or crop rendering works with the RTT mode as well but it would be worth checking out. With that you could bake separate patches of the final bake and stitch them together in photoshop. That way…
hey dude, ur model overall is fine. nothing 'amazing' but good :) unfortunly ur lighting in ur render is killing the overall scene ! put some lights in there other then white ! read though this entire site, it;ll help. http://strobist.blogspot.com/ Try to render this in udk or marmoset ! this renders in max dont help much,…
Erics pretty much on the money, Blender switches draw type to save Scene rendering resources where transparency is concerned (especially as it has so many different ways to render the damn thing) - I don't recall if it's possible to 'fix' that by forcing Blender to render the higher quality transparency though (but check…
