Re: flickering on trim sheet
Are these trim sheets or decals? If they are decals you are dealing with z-fighting, which is where you have overlapping geo that the model is not sure which one to draw ontop of each other, hence flickering. -
Re: Mental Ray nOOb needs help
The first error is harmless and can be ignored. The selected region thing typically shows up when clicking into the render view window, maybe with a tiny drag. Try dragging a region out in the render view, then single clicking again to clear the red box you just drew. Also, did you instance the second spot light? -

In the case of that tutorial, instead of drawing out a zsphere then editing its topology then converting it back to zspheres and editing those, it would probably be faster just to: 1) stick with zspheres only or 2) draw out the topology for the… -
