Hi this thread will be about a task we got in our 3d design class. My class will be posting progress while we try to complete this task. Our 3d teacher told us to make three different Environments (Fantasy, Sci-fi, Realism) there will be two more threads for the Sci-fi and the Realism but i will not be the one to post them…
Hello, i've been lurking polycount for a long time. I've recently moved over to 3ds max, the modelling principles are pretty much the same as any other 3D package but I can't get the references right. If I use the background image option then the images don't align and there seems to be no way to adjust them. If I use…
Not sure if any other polycounters worked on this, but since it came out on the 18th, I figured I'd make a pimp thread. The eagle variant ended up not getting used, but I like it so I've got it pimped. 8-) And textures http://www.poopinmymouth.com/3d/owlbear_tex.jpg http://www.poopinmymouth.com/3d/eagle_bear_tex.jpg…
Hi all! This is my first post on Polycount, sorry if I miss something (and also for my english). So I have a problem to export my animation to Unity, This is a walk animation where the hand of the model should stay at the same position. I will try to explain with a few images. This is my hand in 3ds max, they stay in the…

Chiming in to give OP my advice. For me, it's a matter of discipline. There are multiple threads in Polycount that discusses this. In my case, I do a daily quota of around 4-6 hours (depending on the time available) during weekdays that I dedicate for 3D. The remaining time are spent talking to teammates, reading emails,…
Usually decimation master is used to reduce the polycount so that you can bring your high poly mesh into your 3d modelling app and make a low poly model on top and use the high poly as a guide. That's how I use it anyways. Maybe look into using zremesher with guides to generated the base for your low poly.
Second result for a google search on '3d unwrapping' http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UV_mapping Polycount wiki will have the answers to all of your questions http://wiki.polycount.com/ Rather than asking a lot of questions you could answer yourself, maybe try and make something following one of the tutorials out there and see…
It's probably going to come down to a Concept/3d Artist compeition. Sooooo I think I will start hunting for a good concept artist to help me out this year, if I can find time to do it ( and convince the wife to let me:P) And hopefully someone would want to team up with me to fight for Polycount.
