Not sure if any other polycounters worked on this, but since it came out on the 18th, I figured I'd make a pimp thread. The eagle variant ended up not getting used, but I like it so I've got it pimped. 8-)
These were done a while ago. Keep in mind it's a top down game, which is why I gave the front such mirrored textures, and more area to the back/top to be unique. These were a ton of fun to make, and the game looks pretty cool, it's getting good reviews too. Check it out, only 20 bux, and there is a free playable demo www.playfate.com
One thing is I can't help but think that these two pieces are from different games. I guess it's really because of the fact that the mummy has more object detail (not sure what to call it), while the owlbear is pretty much form detail.
Congrats, though. How many shipped titles does this make for you (and in how many years)?
Thanks Ironbear and Moose. Yeah it is pretty much a Diablo 2 clone, and they make no bones about it. But it has some cool features D2 didn't, and it's very approachable should you only have 5 or 10 minutes to play.
Jkim, good point, I should have probably kept the mummy closer in line to the owlbear. Both of them were made pretty quickly, around 6 hours total for everything.
This makes the fourth title I've contributed to in 2 years. It's pretty fun getting to have a hand in so many styles and games.
Damn, that mummy is ace. I'd have gone crazy trying to paint all of those straps. On the plus side, if you just glance at it, the texture doesn't look mirrored. That's pretty damn good, considering that amount of lines there are.
Not to hijack or anything- but here's the two I did. Not so crazy about the Kobold, but these appear at such tiny rez on screen and the client was happy, so there ya go.
hehe looked at your website poop, didnt realize i met you before, at the Austin Game Conference in 04,asked you where they were giving out the imperator t-shirts.
Yeah Clint, I would have loved to have done everything for that game. I loved the style.
Thanks for all the kind words guys!
Joolz, good stuff from you as well, not hijacking at all, in fact I was hoping this would happen.
Vassago, the bandages were just me using the line tool on a layer that was set to overlay fabric pattern in the blending options, with a drop shadow as well. I had three layers set up like that. Made it pretty simple to do actually.
i know i'm sounding like a broken record to some...
buuuut~, this game looks like it'd be a good candidate for the psp, was that at all a consideration to the developer?
Congrats joolz and poop! I just got the latest Computer Graphics World and it had a two page article on the game. I didn't see poop's guys in there, but I'll have to check it again for joolz'. The whole install is less than 25MB. 25MB! (I mean, these days, you know, that's small.)
