I just got done re-installin 3ds Max to my comp cause it kept freezing and crashin on me. I got it all downloaded and updated and all that good stuff, but when I go to make a primitive shape, it creates it in tri-poly faces....How do i change it so that it always creates any kind of shape (primitive etc etc) in quad-poly…
Welcome in my Reallusion Game Character Animation Contest Thread ! ... In This Thread, I will provide some ideas on how to establish an efficient Pipeline for Making iClone Characters. The Tools I will use are: From Reallusion iClone 5.51 3DXchange 5.52 From Autodesk 3D Studio Max 2011 (But the guiding principles will…
How can I make real-life size screws in 3DS-Max, and I think another way to solve it is to design your own screw and 3D print it in steel. The product needed to be screwed is it going to absorb a lot of force(aeronautics)(10G force at least). Would it be more preferable to model the object(steel) to fit the real-life…
Hey guys. I've been doing work on an antique pottery book for my dad. A big part of the process is taking photos like this one: And cutting out the background with a layer mask. There's an awful lot of these and I'm struggling to find a really efficient way to get through them. For the most part I've either been using the…
As you can see in the images, having a realtime reflection probe over my large body of water seriously tanks performance. So the obvious thing to do is bake the probe. I've done this, first setting the water mesh to static, but the resulting texture of the reflections I get seems to be locked to world space. It does not…
Hey, I've been struggling with this for the last two days. I am trying to create a game with mel script, not by choice but for a project. The last piece that I need to make this possible is to attach transformation controls to a sphere that has a gravity dynamic (g.d.) on it. However, I think because the sphere has the…
To me it looks like those border edges are treated as hard by default, or the cage goes over the edge. Does it display some artifacts on the mesh itself? If that is a problem, I'd personally extrude one more loop from those for baking purposes only, and remove it once everything is baked properly. It's generally a bad idea…
Had the same question couple of weeks ago, I'm using 801 though but I guess it's not so different than indie version when it comes to the baking process..try this: You need to add a Shading Normal output and Bake from Object to Render Outputs. The Shading Normal output can be found under Render Outputs > Geometry - make…
Yes, this is usually the way to make an animated texture in Max (it makes an IFL file, a text file that lists the images). However it won't playback in realtime like a shader will, the performance will be very poor. YMMV. A shader is the way to go if you want a decent framerate. Unfortunately though a shader will take a…
Hey everyone, I'm about to get started on my next portfolio piece. Following some advice from a few companies I've been in touch with through LinkedIn, one thing my portfolio lacks massively is any kind of organic/natural environment; trees/water/grass etc. So I've decided to attempt an environment which includes all of…
