Pixar is trying something new, it is taking some of its newer tech and going Open Source First things first you are probably wondering what OpenSubdiv is and what it means for you, the short answers are: 1) Instead of subdividing the entire mesh it selectively subdivides specific areas. 2) It doesn't mean a whole lot right…
I'll start off with a 100% symmetrical model, enable Dynamesh, sculpt a little bit and use Auto Re-Sym, it creates small artifacts in the mesh and the symmetry goes down to about 99.8%. This is with or without masking half of the model as well. Local Symmetry is on, not sure if that helps or changes much with Auto Re-Sym.…

Hey gents.. been working hard on some hand painted goodness. My crusader about 99.9% where I want him-- if I find something to nitpick at, I'll put more time into it, but at this point I'm calling him done. Here are some process pics, as well as a link to a live stream I did a few days ago to show some process work.. it's…
Hello everyone! I have a friend in a game art program, and while they've seemed to improve in a lot of places, one place that seemed to be frustrating them and they had serious problems with turned out to be 3D Art. Therefore I am trying to frame these questions such that they will be…
