ya that is stupid of SOE, Modding adds so much life to games, look at warcarft, 3 like 8 years after release people were still buying it for dota. than look at quake and half-life. i think more companies should include mod tools and editor like epic and valve do.
You probably wont have enough poly budget for a lot of this and in Addition, you cannot change the base model/textures (legs/body). For the head I'd definitely stick with the middle of the three concepts. Keep in mind, Dota's aesthetic is very simple when it comes to technology, what you have right now is too much.

You can consider these alternatives until(and maybe after(that is, if legally possible)) you get a job as well: Unreal Marketplace, Dota 2/ Team Fortress 2 Workshop, Turbosquid etc. Just make your research and determine if the experience would be useful for you. If you can make money as well, that would be helpful too.
Your prop designs are really nice :) thats your strength imo. My 2 cents, try not to use full value range on every object/character/piece. Limit your value range for different parts and it will have a better read. Maybe this is a good read for you: Dota 2 character art guide pdf
