You can use a tiled texture but blend it with a larger texture. So you have one giant texture for large scale details and tiled textures for the smaller details. This needs a shader designed to blend two textures together.
Hi folks. I'm quite new to 3D and I'm struggling to see how I would apply a texture with a fixed directional "flow" to a curved UV map to ensure that the texture follows the flow of the mesh. As a crude example, here is where I'm at right now: http://i.imgur.com/hEtPudX.jpg Say I wanted to apply this corrugated metal…
I wanted to create one texture map over the top of another. I want one tiling texture with tree bark and another texture of moss for the base of the tree with transparency so that the bark can show through. I think this is how they did it for Uncharted but I'm not sure how to execute it. Does anyone know if it's possible…

If you can't…

Hello! I am trying to work on hand-painted texture for a character. I'd like it to be somewhat WoW-like stylized, but partially it looks like childrens' painting :) I am mostly doing modelling and sculpting, but trying to learn how to do "old school" textures. I painted values first and then overpainted colors. The…
Hey all Having a bit of an issue with one of my assets after I build the lighting in unreal. The first screenshot shows the asset in unlit mode and the texture on the wall looks as it should However once I build the lights I get this odd error It actually looks like its partly loading an older version of the texture but, I…
