Hey guys, There are so many people asking me about the process of making my Ellie fanart so I decided to do a making of for this character. This is just an overview, not an in-depth tutorial. I can't go into details for everything unfortunately due to time constraints. I'm sorry if you couldn't find the information you are…
Ok, I got this low poly face, I want to make ( have made) a high poly one, I just don't bake worth crap. My Xnormal looks like a horrible mess when I use it.
I guess you are right :( but the model is more for learning though... One of the things doing wrong was making the high poly borders to tight :| Also in most of the cases when the low poly mesh is bigger than the hp it will not bake right...
Hey guys. I have an issue with texture baking. What's wrong with my mesh? Normals are right. It's baked by xNormal. I also tried to bake in cinema 4d. I've got the right result, but I had hard edges in some areas. I don't know why. I can attach LP mesh.
there's some interesting maths regarding combining normal maps..... you can add the normals together and normalize the result but this does not give the correct result as it generates a kind of blended/average result. To do the math correctly you create a transform matrix from the base normal and then transform the…
So today I've finally gotten around to bake some maps for an armor piece. But every time I bake the dang maps I get this mess of artifacts: The process was sculpt in Zbrush, Decimate it, retopo it, and then bake it in Xnormal (version 3.19). I've tried several tweaks and such but there have been no improvements. Any…

So, everyone could contribute their workflow for making the maps or improve them. For the moment, i managed to create gradient map (special thank to MacOrion for the…
