Hello! Well, I just wanted to ask it in this thread but since it's a different thing, I've made this thread specially for it. The question is how to render texture (bake) normals map from frame x to frame z in 3DS Max? There is a already a model with particle emitter that emits particles on a plane, the plane should be…
I've never used XNormal but apparrently you should have a +Y and -Y option somewhere. Swap that. Don't flip the texture itself. If you can't find the option in XNormal, invert the green channel of the normal map so dark is light, light is dark and grey is grey.
Hello, please am new to the 3D world but have been using Zbrush and xnormal for sometime now but simply can't find a way to go about this, and my question is, 1. Is there a way i can import normal map and Ao Maps from Xnormal into zbrush? I simply wanted to import the baked file into zbrush to replace my low poly mesh…
This. Topology that is ideal for subdividing and sculpting on can look completely different from topology that is ideal for being animated in a video game. This is true regardless if you're doing an organic character or a hard-edged object. There are a few times where a basemesh might work out well enough to be used for…
Hey guys, I am in my 3rd year at University and have been working on my Final Year Project! I will be investigating into animated normal maps and using them to enhance a facial rig. Most of you will know this but a few examples are the Uncharted series, MGS4, L.A. Noire etc. The aim of the project is to present the outcome…
Does anyone know of a way to make zapplink send out a view with a normal map applied to the mesh? (I mean with the normal map doing its thing and another map in the texture slot to be painted through zapplink) If there's no workaround or anything to make zapplink do it, is there any other (preferably relatively affordable)…
Is it possible to render a normal map directly in mudbox? Like I import my low poly mesh with uv's and then sub div it, add details etc. And then 'render' a normal map for it.
I am currently running Max 2008. Today I made a box, with the default light setup and did a 'Normals > Flip Normals'. I usually do this to start a room and begin pushing out hallways and whatnot. Today; the box turned black not letting me see inside. If I push the camera inside it is lit properly. I have changed my…
Im trying to see if I can find and justification to give to our programmer about incorporating 3Dc or DXT5_NM for tangent maps since I found out the engine we use can only do tangents - period. . I found nvidia's showing Ids document about the different normal map options.…
A normal map takes place in repair defined by the face normals and your UV's (the famous tangent space) So if you're uv's arent oriented the same way (here you have 90° or 180 rotations), the normal map patterns shouldn't have the same look. It also means that you can't simply rotate a normal map with the transform tool.…
