So i've been having some trouble figuring out how to solve this lightmap issues, i've tried increasing the lightmap resolution, tweaking around the uvs (even though these are mostly just plane uvs) and i can't seem to solve it.
some questions regarding using both dynamic and static lighting. working on a level that uses dynamic outdoor lighting, but anything indoors is set to static lighting. Does a lightmap get baked down to a texture if there’s no shadow information on the mesh? If there’s partial dynamic light and also partial static light…
Greetings, I have spent weeks on and off trying to find a great way to create lightmaps for an apartment with 8 rooms. I have gathered information here and there but I can't draw any conclusion on to how I should approach my issue. I have read threads after another and tried most if not everything, except for recreating…
Hi, i've started to learn how to bake light this week, and have some other questions concerning performance and materials that i can't find info about. 1. What are those other colorful maps that you get when you bake lightmaps? it seems that there are 3 of them. 2. When you have modular pieces like a wall that have an…
Tried to add geometry to the roofs, light leaks again. I think I might have to revert back to cpu lightmass. Seems the gpu only works in certain situations without issues. The question is with external lightmaps, light leaks issue is completely removed. Using them means reflection has to be baked externally too. Really…
Hey Guys, How would you do light maps for an object below. its all one object, if i do a planar from the top and relax it, then i get some swirly crappy lightmaps. if i flatten it all, then i get crappy seams at both ends which also looks crap. tried lots of different ways all result in bad lightmaps. Any help? C
hi guys, Do any of you know a good way to display lightmaps in 3ds max? Like if I have a scene, with many objects and I want to blend the lightmap on top of their textures? thanks!
Sorry if I'm not making sense. I want paint texture and lightmap for a mesh in Mari, but Mari seems to only support obj, which only saves 1 UV set (which has overlaps). Does that mean: 1. have 1 UV set on .obj in Softimage 2. paint texture in Mari 3. import that .obj back into Softimage 4. create 2nd UV set for lightmap in…
