Hi Scott, if all you want to do is render out a room of whiteness with nice shading to show form, there are a few ways to do this. Below are the three I know of listed in order of hassle and render time. Maya7 only hypershade> create mentalray node> texture tab> mid_amb_occlusion> hook this node up to the ambient channel…
Using GPU baking with xnormal will decrease the render times *dramatically*. Bakes that used to take upwards of an hour happen in under a minute. Just change the renderer dropdown from "Default Bucket renderer" to "Optix/CUDA Renderer (alpha/experimental". I can't remember if I had to change any options in the plugin…
Does anyone have a functional workflow for baking hi-res models down to game-res using render-to-texture in Max, using Mental Ray displacement maps as part of the hi-res stuff? From what I can tell, the Mental Ray renderer doesnt work properly with render to texture, and the normal Max renderer doesnt support…
Hi, I've been looking at good techniques for high poly renders and came across this thread http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=60887 I've managed to recreate the shader by nrek where he's combined the mental ray AO map and shellac shader as shown here My problem is that the AO pass that is rendering with it, is…
We are currently looking for some rendering recreation help. We’re looking to replicate a render created in another application and are looking for a skilled blender artist to replicate the render look as close as possible (Eevee would be great). Ultimately we would like the ability to swap assets while having a consistent…
If iterating quickly is a priority you might consider using UE4 or Marmoset 2 (something with a PBR workflow) to get a rough idea of what your materials will look like in a physically based rendering system. That will allow you to quickly make adjustments to your textures and materials and hopefully get you 80% of the way…
As far as I can tell rendering an AO pass doesn't increase your render time by that much and integrates with the other lights a lot better if you render as you go. And if you really need to speed things up a couple of hundred bucks will buy you a decent render farm. If it's realtime the OP should unwrap things properly.
Hey guys, I am wondering if its possible to change the size of view, so I am able to see whole area I want to render. I always get wrong one no matter what image aspect ratio I choose. This is scene I am trying to render - left bottom image What I am going for is shown at this image Now changing resolution or aspect ratio…
Hello guys, how are you doing? I am currently trying to render eyes in Marmoset 4 and it is comepletely different than previous versions. I have read a bit about the subject and I understand that I need to render it in "Transmission" and not Transparency, but I still get some weird results. It's like the Translucent meshes…
Hey guys! Can anyone suggest me a good tutorial for vray about character lighting or character presentation? I mainly want to learn how to create a good lighting scene and a proper workflow to composite the different render pass in photoshop Also i would prefer a tutorial that is rendering a textured piece instead of a…
