The font is difficult to read. Replace the welcome block with the Vimeo embed and your illustrations. That's all people want to see, and if they don't like it they won't explore further. I would cut the friends from your about page... it's also poorly cropped which doesn't reflect well. The ghost is funny though. Resume is…
I tried to understand what your question was, and created a low poly "cage" for you to consider for your modeling approach. The Blue line is the border of the illustration, while the red is the cage for the low poly mesh, and the green lines are the tri layouts. I hope it makes sense. For image, please see my following…
Thanks for the paintover, Jeremy! I now totally see what you mean. Unfortunately I already went ahead and did the final illustration... Guess this is what I get for not studying human expressions. One thing I am certain about is that the next Joker or any "happy" character will have a proper smile!
game art and 3d art should be one category. illustration and graphic design can be one category as well. contact, about and resume can all be one page. if you wish to put twitter and other social stuff, put it in front of your name. it's really annoying to see it following me. hope it helps.
You gotta understand why man. It's a bit difficult if you're not into the math behind it, so here's an illustration I whipped up: The example highlights on the right are really burnt out, but with softer spec values it's just way more apparent, you'd get yellow-pinkish spec all over without using blue.
For a student folio site I think it looks really strong. I like the addition of the 2d section but think it might be a little too much stuff. Unless your primary goal is to get a job as a 2d artist I would take some of it out. Leave the best parts to illustrate your ability though.
Thanks for the feedback, Shrike! I always thought that was kinda weird, but it's hard to know when you're not used to the language! :) I might change it to "Game Artist and Illustrator", I feel more comfortable with it now! And thanks for the comments NegevPro and spectre1130! When I get the time I'll post some more…
ok waanted to illustrate more what i mean (hate leaving people hanging with criptic crits anyway i did a very quick paintover of the torso hope it helps....!? this could obviously taken furthar by defining the muscles more and creating better ighting as mop said but its start Jody before after
Bloody awesome details on the clothing! Now onto hear giant book haha, I'm interested to see how that turns out. The character design page illustrating the use of her book is hilarious. I wonder what's filled in those pages that makes her want to beat up the book over the ground. :D
