Update (a little changes in facial features and the bloody arm from the earlier version) turntable of the same https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IwAD5NrYdhs Hi, Need your feedback on a mid detailed model sculpted and posed in zbrush and rendered in mentalray maya.
I did some close up renders in zBrush because the quality of the video wasn't that great, and a lot of fine detail was lost in the MentalRay render because I didn't have the time to fine tune the displacement setting.
Okay i am answering my question. I figured it out. With FBX 2010.2 you can exchange the semi-sharp crease data between modo and Maya. And here is a test render from Maya/MentalRay;
Adding lights to the scene, setting up cameras, tweaking the render settings (Scanline, MentalRay, VRay, RenderMan ect...) and "rendering" out 2D images. It normally isn't done in games, the rendering in games happens in the engine in "realtime".
How does your mesh look like? What maps are you using (diffuse, spec, displacement, sss)? What renderer do you use? Arnold, Mentalray, Vray, Cycles? And whats your light setup?
a side note, do these black lines on the top of my knife look ok or should there be none at all? In MentalRay AO baker I maxed out the Fill Seams option which is supposed to fix them attached
Hello, Is there a way to disable the backface of mesh to cast shadow ? Basically i need this for the floating geometry not to cast shadows and ao in my hipoly renders. (I want them to render like in viewport) Im using 3dsmax and MentalRay. Thanks.
Hi! Help me please! I need bake occlusion in Maya all objects in my model, inside and outside. MentalRay or Turtle baked only outside surface. :( File test: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10877913/Test_LH.rar
Anyone know how to do mentalray depth fog in maya, that doesn't fuck up your light rig or block out the skybox. I can't do this in post unfortunately. I need it to render correctly all in one pass.
Looks like the highpoly and lowpoly are both being baked together as targets. Are you using mentalray as your renderer? I don't use mr for bakes, but I recall there being a need to manually hide the lowpoly faces. That could be it.
