Weird lines with normal map after importing mesh from Max to Maya
Hey, I have a problem with mesh from Max in Maya. Mesh was modelled in Max, then baked in Marmoset.Then I imported this model to Maya (with checked option "Unlock Normals" in fbx settings so maya won't recompute normals) and mesh overall looks nice, but in many places are this weird lines. [Maya] I accidentally hid my xgen hair in my perspective panel and I can't see it anymore.
I can see the ambient occlusion of the xgen hair, but not the hair itself. Turning the preview button on and off doesn't fix it. I barely know how to use maya (I use Max), so I don't know what button I pressed to do this to undo it. It appears correctly in other panels. -

Converting Maya 8.5 file to OBJ without Maya
I have a quandary. I started a model at work on Maya 8.5. I emailed it home in MB format, but realised that its not compatible with my home Maya 6.5. Re: 3ds Max vs. Maya nowadays and in the future
Modo is great for modeling. Then I lean toward 3dsmax then maybe Maya. For animation it's the reverse. Modo still has quite a ways to go for animation but it's made a lot of great leaps in the last few releases. I hope they continue to focus on animation tools and not just catch up but leap frog ahead of the competition… -
