Hey so I was wondering on creating the main ground area in a level should I use the painting a material on the ground tool or textured planes. I've seen a few people making good quality tileable planes for use in games but I'm not sure. Or should I use both?

So this is my first attempt at painting grass 512x512 repeating texture. I think it came out decent for my first try. I'm going back through an add in flowers/clovers to break it up a bit. Any advice on how to improve or areas to change are more then welcome=D.
I got some time this weekend to paint up a concept of an idea thats been in my head for a little while for a tree dwelling that I'm looking at turning into a low poly game asset. I was quite happy with how it turned out and thought I'd share it, thanks for taking a look :)
I'm modelling nervous systems and near organs there's a lot of branching. The main fibers can be relatively easily done with spline modelling, but in the interconnecting areas it would be nice with less fidgeting in doing branchy structures.
