nice, clean work on the heads here. A quick little crit; I know these are aliens but if you're using overall human proportion as a starting point then you're tending to render the skulls a little too shallow-- typically the human head is as deep as it is tall. But yeah, some nice stuff.
Maybe I am Cliffy B..... I placed Japhir's skull model inside the head and fixed a few of the areas in the back that were obscured by the hair in my reference pics. I guess I'm basically looking for ideas on modeling the overcoat mesh and texturing of any of the meshes.
Cool piece, a nice improvement from the first post as well. Try giving the whiteish skulls and the white blade part a bit more texture love and bring them up to the same level of quality and detail as the wings and this could be awesome. (looove warhammer stuff, especially 40k)
I love 'em. I like how you have very saturated colors without going overboard, and the texture complexity is pleasurable to view. I think the 'skullcap' could have darker tones defining the outside edge of the skull shape. But other than that, these are nice! /jzero
Now I think he is pretty ready for mudbox again. This I have done (in red) Rounded up his skull Studied closly anatomy and did all edgeflows according to the muscles (red lines) Tried to get a more even poly flow over the model.
The body sculpt is looking good so far, but the eyes are too far up the head giving him a bit of an alien look. They should be almost exactly at the halfway point. You might need to mess around with the overall height of the skull as well, until it all looks right.
A look at silhouette, I tired fixing up the face by using a skull and it started pissing me off, so I took a break from the head, I have no idea what specs I want to aim for with the character, but I want to get him into a few engines.
For face studies, you should focus on drawing from life. Gather some photos of people (friends are fun to do) and do portraits. You'll expand your visual library this way. If you wanna get more in-depth of structure drawing some skulls is a good idea.
I think a little more subtle colors would work a bit better, imho but that depends on how they turn out in the ingame render. you got some shots of that ? and maybe you could add more detail in the skull texture. :) all else looks good to me.
Pretty awesome dude. I love the material on the bone. The weapon is great too. And I really like that fleshy material connecting the ribcage and the pelvis. It adds a nice touch. The skulls could be a bit more anatomically sound for my taste, but that's just me. Good stuff man.
