One more question, is Vertex alpha possible? For Example, I want to skirt a mesh along a wall and floor juncture. The skirt is basically used as a decal but the outer verts blend out to zero alpha. This possibly in XSI?
Hey Peris - thanks for an inspiring Unearthly entry! Yes, this is all made with game-specs in mind. I'll post a wire. Lots of decals though. Don't like the color offset? But chromatic abberration is the new lens-flare! ;)
Almost done, I still have a couple of things to do like a nicer lighting, particles, more decals, and a couple of small props. I would appreciate feedback a lot on how to improve and what to fix. Thanks!
started to work on fixing the issues you addressed, is this heading in the right direction? im hoping all the decals will break up the boring flat areas of colour but at the moment i just want to try and nail the main materials
Instrument transformers! After staring at these things for the better part of a month, I'm glad they're done. And some sign decals for the exterior. I'll toss some geo into the holes to wire them up to the chain link fencing.
It's the Dirty Update! Through a combination of Decals, Vertex Paint, Scattered meshes. It's a good pass, I'm almost to a content lock on the interior part of my scene. :D Also here is a progression GIF, up to the latest screenshot. :#
All the main assets are done. There are some smaller things I will work on after I set dress such as vines, and some decals and smaller pieces. Going to fine tune my master materials then move on to set dressing.
Personally I'd mirror more of the parts if they'd look that similar in the end. I can only tell that there's some decals that differs from the arms for example. Perhaps you could have put that on with an alpha plane instead?
update woo added in the side wall pieces, corrected the girders so they are less noisy now felt they were the eye sore of the environment and then i have started created decals for the environment :D Feedback always welcomed :)
Actually i think that its quite possible to use procedurals on characters aswell. Especially to specify materials, havnt you noticed all the "scaled up" cloth? Or as a bump on skin along with decals for lips, joints etc.
