Finished the 2 large rocks today! Only the medium-sized and smaller rocks are left to be made. On the left is the first rock sculpt I've done and on the right the new one from my last post.
Scene 10 - The Ship This sequence proposed an interesting challenge as I had to integrate a ship in the water showed in the video background. I used a Greek ancient boat model, but previously, I removed the oars in 3DStudio before to export the rest as an iClone prop. I created a simple path that I used to move the boat…
Check out the work from CGMA student Christen Smith , who shows us how he created an amazing modular set that he did Anthony Vaccaro’s Organic World Building class with CGMA. Intro Looking back, I believe my last article with 80.lv was almost 2 years ago on the Dead Space Cockpit, which in hindsight was at a very high…
Rock uses the same texture as landscape. Then actual textures for rock are added on top of that using a world aligned blend node. Landscape texture is using a world aligned texture node for 3D projection in both landscape and rock.
There's a lot I think should be changed in this scene. First, if the pink leaves are walling into the water some of them should also be on the rock. The tree itself doesn't look properly rooted into the rock face, like it's just sitting on top instead of dug in. The grass (?) coming off the top of the rock walls don't look…

I've only made one model before but that was using displacement maps, so I'm trying to replicate the actual games process, from what I've gathered this is how I'm…
I wouldn't consider myself a master by any stretch of the imagination, but really its just practice, practice, and more practice. My first few attempts at rocks (the ones I don't show anyone) all looked quite terrible and formless. Rocks are probably one of the hardest environmental shapes to sculpt just because we see…
