DeadlyNightshade: just wanted to see if it is user error on my end or actual bug. Klaudio2U: thanks. It seems that even if I set the -distbound 0 0.7071. the uv selection still seems to be inaccurate. So Im gona have to do a lot more testing to make my script work.
Assuming Y up coordinates, your players Xpos would be stationary but the input would drive the rotation of the tower model and your Ypos would be constrained to a base constant += your jump - gravity over time. You could also script modular meshes to swap out giving the variety.
That's the case but : Same case from Maya. The Units are also dependent of the game you use because they are specified in the script files. Gears of war use character much taller than in Unreal Tournament. The "mobile" gametype in UDK use a player size larger than in the UT DeathMatch gametype for example.
GOT IT! After reading through the MEL scripts I realized that for overrides to work it has to be run through the command line. I'll write up a How-To when I get back from work. Edit: Also, it is impossible via Maya LT, you need the Render.exe in full Maya.
I imagine most systems would just be parenting the gun to the character's hand bones. And I believe this can also be done in Unity if you didn't want to do it in Max, might be better to do it in Unity so you can make adjustments based on any scripting that may be done.
Ditch the WIP (post it once it's done) and ditch the script/pop-up image viewer, like the others said, just go for a separate page with a big view of that image instead. Otherwise, I think your work is good. The HP guns are nice, and you've got some great props in there.
Here at Relic - Basically us level designers do greyboxing/layouts, scripting, encounter design, event setups, and other gameplay related stuff. Environment artists take our ugly greyblock layouts and make them perdy, do all the modeling / texturing / world building / visual stuff.
That Cryengine Road tool is exactly what I was looking for. Does udk have something like the road builder in Cryengine? I found this sweet video on road building but I think someone made their own script and its not apart of unreal udk. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hqQKBvUI96Y
If I remember correct there is an BL2 Art Dump in this forum and some of the Gearbox guys told something about there workflow. They use indeed normal maps at their models (including high poly sculpts) but they make heavy use of handpainted "scripts" so you can't really see the normal map at all. :)
Ahh, function I see you set the empty array as a float variable, from what I know of MEL you don't have too ? The script worked, although after I run it a few times it fires an error on line 8 ? Where did you get MPosition ?
