Thanks for posting these, they look really good! A quick question regarding the lighting process. As a lighting artist do you have some involvement in the environment art/level building side of things? For example if you're lighting a scene and think that "A glossier material in this part of the scene would help to have a…
I have a lamp with a standard vray mtl applied to the main body and a doublesided material applied to the translucent area around the light. I am having a problem thought that light is escaping through the non translucent base section and illuminating the pole in a wierd way. Do you know what I should do to prevent this?
More infos about the game (which will use an innovative concept into gameplay majors actions) : well, what is LiGHT ? LiGHT is a video game project i started working on July, with a small team. LiGHT will be a game-oriented horror and reflection. There will be no overarmed fighting. You will need to use your brain and find…
Hey everyone! I was talking to one of my friends last night about Cinema 4D and a light kit add-on made by GreyscaleGorrila that looked pretty bad ass... He then followed up saying that a company made one for 3DsMax but forgot what the program was called... In general I guess (since that really gives no info on what I'm…
Hey there. I'm working on some visual effects for a level I am working on but I've hit a bump with an effect that I can't really find any info on. I want to create an animated water light reflection that looks something as nice as or close to this : And what I have is this: Is there a method or a better way to make this…
So, I've been making some procBuilding rulesets for work so that we can how useful they are. I've been having some fun with them and just seeing what they can do, but when I bake lighting everything goes to hell. The light bake is effecting every modular piece separately instead of the building as a whole and I can't…
Light maps seem to be an under focused area of talk. I've asked multiple times about them and been linked multiple times to the Unreal documentation. I continue to have issues, namely having them mipmapping down to bad quality. Usually by raising the light map resolution I can take care of the issue, but then moving away…
Hi there! Haven't been there for a while! I'm happy to share my latest Unreal environment where I had a lot of fun experimenting with multi-angle light photogrammetry, gaea and speedtree. See the artstation post for full breakdown! https://polycount.com/post/discussion/www.artstation.com/artwork/x3gVr2
Hey guys, I'm having some problems with my lighting on a small scene I'm working on. For some reason after baking this scene goes really red (even though the 'Indirect lighting saturation' is .1), and parts of the mesh have highlights when it should be in shade I have been trying to tweak setting and to solve this thing…
Hi ! Here is the thing These walls have correct 2nd UV channels and they kinda work, but the shadows of the vertical pillars inside the walls somehow seems to bleed on the other side of the planks whand I build the lights in production ; a bleed that doesn't seem to be caused by a bad lightmap layout. I think it might be…
