Try to take advantage of the larger gradient colors white and black. Do not use 100% white or black, because it is not realistic. Some highlight information in your handpaint and it will look much better.) For example:
@pixelb I'm not talking about PBR! Strictly Diffuse-only, no PBR, PBR sucks! That was just a stupid experiment for some reason, don't think about it! Sorry for the confusion. Striiiictly handpainted stuff.
Yeah, what I meant was most procedurals look like crap compared to good photosource or good handpainted texture. Procedurals can look good, but a visual artist's careful eye is needed.
Looks pretty awesome. Haven't seen anyone do handpainted normals before. Any chance of a shot with and without them applied. I just wonder how much of an effect the normals are having. Keep it up.
Haha oh man all these are AMAZING! Love those handpainted textures and colours, and those characters! You really nailed the style on each one. Great skill man, great skill. Watchin this like a hawk!
I feel like your handpainting technique is moving the right direction - your biggest issue right now is the lack of uniformity in the texel tensity. Push the colors, push the shapes, push the accents and edges. exaggerate!
man i agree with hobo, this looks awesome, like it could be a lot of fun. be sure to keep us updated! I love the handpainted textures. I cant check out the video for some reason though...

This is fantastic! Generally with handpainted props, you'll want to put the self illumination to around 50-75%. Also (personal preference) to get the image sharper looking, use Catmul-Rom, with no texture filtering in the render.
Updated my textures for the handpainted sword and shield I was making. I thought I'd get some final feedback to take over to my next piece (hopefully better) Here it is: Thanks for looking
