Hey guys, I'm having an issue with ZBrush and the symmetry. I'm sculpting a character and the symmetry was working just fine until I reached his face. I can still sculpt on it, but the symmetry isn't showing on both sides. It's as if it's reading the symmetry at a lag, missing certain areas. I have M (Mirror) turned on,…
What about controling the chamfer level? edit: maybe using masks in zbrush? so you can chamfer a part individually and then another one with a wider angle? this method can be even more interesting combined with welding brush sculpts for this kind of pieces!
Having tried both programs, I can safely say that Mudbox is more user-friendly, has a very short learning curve, and is generally much easier to use out of the box than ZBrush. Because of the former, I find my experience using Mudbox actually FUN compared to the hassle of finding how to do something with ZBrush. Mudbox…
Hey, just wondered if there are any good techniques people can share for sculpting hair? I always seem to do ok using the clay/Dam standard brush, but its when it comes to finishing off the tips of the hair that can be a little bit of a struggle. I usually build up the hair in blocks then try to get the right form in the…
Okay dokie, I've got part of the basics down for Zbrush, getting ready to try to do a normal map for a character I'm doing for my portfolio. I've built a few models in zbrush now, but haven't actually used Zmapper or any other method to export a normal map to place on a character. I was just curious as to the way the…
Hello Everyone :poly136: First poster here just wanting to dump my Zbrush sculpts here and see what you guys think. If possible as well how and what I can do to improve as I'm sure there not perfect because I never seem to finish anything I start :\ . Not that new to Zbrush but the last time I touched it was a couple of…
So, I have this model I'm working on. I'm trying to create normal maps using Maya and Zbrush. I get this texture seam gap after I create the NM in Zbrush. I looked around on the forum and it seems to be a vertex normal issue? How would I go about fixing them? I played around with the uvmap adjustments in Zbrush but it…
Lifeover Not sure if this is possible anymore in Zbrush 4r7 or people do it that way anymore. I can only presume the reason is, this would now be achieved (and cleaner) by storing a morph map, then with surface/noise or drag out a repeating alpha on the surface and then using the morph brush to erase as shown. Obviously…

as far as i know you can only rotate alphas in 90° increments inside zbrush. about that intensity thing... you are dropping the mesh and then using the single layer or simple brush to dragRect the alpha onto the mesh? adjusting the z intensity doesnt do anything for you? because it works for me to reduce the impact of the…
