I am working on a scene and at start to have a lot of light in it. At a certain point when i was duplicate light to place them some that were already in the scene stop working, It seem like the is a certain limit for the amount of light you can have in a scene. I was wondering if there is a way to get vertex lighting to show up with the DX display of Standard Material option checked on in Max. Because I have vertex lighting on this violin Im working on and as soon as I turn on DX display it takes off the vertex lighting. also how do I get the alphas to work with DX display on?

Is it just me or the Area lights are 10x stronger than the spot lights? I'm trying to get a spot to show, but I'm having to force the intensity of it to 8 (which is max) to show anything. I wouldn't like to put distance falloff farther or it can cross boundaries. Someone have any clue what can I do about these spot lights?
