I tried searching to see if there was a 3DS thread already, but ofcourse searching 3DS on polycount results in every thread being displayed. :P So anyway, does anybody have a 3DS? I got one on Australian launch day. It's a pretty neat little device. If anybody else has one, maybe we should swap friend codes and such, maybe…

I think polycount people jumping on this site has been a good thing. With CGHUB it always felt like 3d and especially video game art was valued below concept paintings.
I believe you mean Jon "Not The UFC Fighter, but the 3D Artist and Polycounter" Jones, who angry UFC fans on twitter think was Jon Jones the UFC Fighter this one time.
Welcome to Polycount :) Softimage Mod Tool is another good free 3d app to start with. Oh and Wings3D is supposed to be a pretty good modeler, it's free as well, though I haven't tried it personally. The built in search function here on Polycount isn't too hot, I like to use Google Site Search instead.

Welcome to the boards :) Polycount is a very strong community with a lot of talent. Pretty much the entirety of my 3d education was from Polycount and it's members. People are more than willing to help, if you at least try to help yourself first (which it sounds as though you are). Be courteous, follow the rules and you'll…
We're much better artists these days, there weren't many 3d veterans back in the psx days :) I mean, we know better than to light to black shade a lowpoly model of that polycount.
Gonna be there too! Greg, now I'm wildly angry you arent gonna be there.... wildly! Mentioned it to the 3d game art students and alumni from seneca as well. They all know of polycount obviously.
