I find it helps to place the reference and the model side-by-side, to more easily compare them, like this: It also helps to put the reference behind the model inside your modeling app, then set the model to x-ray or ghost style rendering, kind of like this:
I wanted to share something I came across while looking at models and textures from Borderlands 2. There is a 3D model called WreckedVan that is used all over the game. It comes with a 2048 diffuse map and a second packed mask texture. The size might seem large for 2012 but given that it was standard practice to give…
Hello, I was wondering if other folks are experiencing the same issue. In the 3DO window, when you have a multi-grouped mesh loaded, there is a problem with 3DO picking a random group as it's default when you use display on "plane" or "cube" and displays the randomly selected group's textures. When you click the "refresh"…
If your position of the object is reached to fast.. shouldn't you move the iframes (or whatever it's called in Maya) for that position to the right so that they are "reached" later in time ? Maybe even using more than 144 frames. The numbers are only the relative position to the curve (0= one side; 0.5= in the middle; 1=…
Yes, the answer is obviously dependent on what the end goal for the scene is. My question is really "what would you rather work with as a level designer or environment artist?". Would you rather use wall pieces that were just planes, or would you rather have the flexibility of a wall with thickness, and a texture on both…
Subdivision sketch: Hotdog. This is a hotdog on a bun. It's very easy to make using basic subdivision modeling. Here's how to create one of your own:-Insert a cylinder capped with a quad hemisphere and mirror the mesh. -Add loop cuts to evenly space the decorative slices. -Randomize the decorative slices with a series of…
you can rotate the circle so instead of straight edge in middle you get the quad side of circle meeting this flat piece, thus solving your issue and giving you natural bevel as in reference
This is neat! I wonder if you could add collision to the camera, to prevent it clipping behind walls? Or maybe it could be a simple as setting the walls to render single-sided, so they don't get in the way of the camera?
What do you guys make of it? Is it totally fine to you, or is it annoying starting up Steam to fire up X software? I have a few on there, I use Designer there and it's generally okay for me. I don't really like it, but there's some fun side effects like it tracking your hours in the software, imagine if I had those stats…
I posted support ticket directly but they have been kept silent for a few days already. Just wonder if it's only on my side and everyone using blender addon currently is happy with it .
