I've seen some nice plugins for Maya that allow you to bake gradient textures for your models, making it easier to handpaint details after. Some even add effects on edges, etc. Does anyone recommend anything for Blender?
Hey everyone This is my first attempt at handpainted textures and I was hoping to get some good advice on lighting and texturing to really make this a good piece I know its pretty far along but any advice helps thanks.
Hello everyone, I just decided to post the updates of my new personnal project here. I'm working with Diffuse only. here's the Design : https://www.artstation.com/artwork/Kr9ko Hope you guys like it, waiting for your feedbacks !
Hi everyone I currently take an online workshop with Gui Pu of handpainted 3D characters. I mostly work on environment modeling and texturing... and I have hard times working on some human shape setting elements, such as figures on coins or statues. So I decided to take this course to enhance my anatomy as well as…
@derphouse That's pretty awesome! I'm guessing that UVs are generated via a side projection and then shrank to put into a pixel width atlas for a vertical gradient map. Do you think it would be possible to apply a gradient like this without having having squashed UVs? What I'm asking is whether or not you can project a…
Hello! I am back. the character is all baked and optimized all that stuff. Now i'm working on the black and white handpainting! Would love any feedback! I reshaped the face more so he's less flat but unfortunately to stick to the class schedule did not have time to fix the back armor/leather thing.
Thanks a bunch for this motivating comment ^^ I just saw I forgot to post Lumberia mountains, handpainted stuff on 3DCoat as usual =) (Base color only here, I use normalmaps and a simplified PBR setup for in-game assets)
kinda the same here, i use 3dcoat for a lot of stuff tho, handpainted textures, tweaking lowpoly models, easy uving, retopo, rock formation shapes, and when I need to prototype hardsurface stuff is also good.
@Kapoff Great stuff man. @klown Is it just me, or his body seems pretty long compared to his arms ? Note to myself: Never do another character old-school/handpainted style... Never Ever Again...
I know you could handpaint normals before, but with the AO, cavity and all the other bells and whistles it seems like a really attractive alternative to sculpting now. Great job! Did this real quick all in PS + nDo2
