Hello everyone, I just decided to post the updates of my new personnal project here. I'm working with Diffuse only. here's the Design : https://www.artstation.com/artwork/Kr9ko Hope you guys like it, waiting for your feedbacks !
Looks great overall. Biggest feedback I can give is that your roof feels flat because the tiles appear to be paper thin. I think if you added some bevel to the bottom of the tiles it may help. The drop shadow is very large and makes it appear that the tiles are floating high over the next row. On that note, maybe cut out a duplicate of a few shingles and have them extruded out from the surface a bit to give more interesting silhouettes
I think this is looking great so far. I done some quick notes for you! So i use some artistic licence to change things from the concept. Obviously these are all just suggestions and personal preference.
So just to run through the notes -modelling wise i think you can pull some verts to have not as many straight lines. I think it makes for a more interesting silhouette. In stylized pieces whenever there is a straight line i tend to move it slightly to give character. -i think some of the wood/tiles might be too thin (i know its close to the concept.) But i think you can thicken them to make them more readable from a distance. You've got all these nice wooden planks but at a distance because they are the same colour it blends together. Try to separate it more. -Some wood can come out further to break the silhouette more. Same with the tops of the chimneys and bits on the roof. -I done a quick level adjustment and colour balance. I went for warmer tones, you can do this a bit in the texture or in lighting. I would work with both until you get the look you want. I felt currently it's a bit desaturated so i pumped up those colours! - I added more saturated blue to the roof with different variations of green. -Maybe a red tiles or wood for the barn roof. I think currently it had alot of the same brown wood everywhere so i tried to add in another colour. -Added some variations to the leaves, lighter greens , making it fill more lush. Adding flowers also brings in more colour to the growing vines. -add some bricks on the plaster for interest -the door roof looks floaty. either add another beam or connect the roof to the side of the stable like the concept.
Anyway i hope these notes help! Good job and i look forward to the update
@Mpages Hey man! really like it. I like the colors, the model, its very nice! I agree with praetus about the roof. I have a hard time painting wooden stuff myself. But I did a paintover for you. Maybe it helps! I think you can seperate youre darks, mids and lights a little bit more, by shifting the hue a little bit more. Also with the roof, like praetus said feels really thin. The same for the wood I think, maybe try to give stuff a little more of a bevel, to show the forms. Anyway, hope this helps!
Hey guys, here's a little update the "House with stable", Don't have much time to work on it sadly, but I'm gonna try to finish it this weekend ! I was inspired by The Legend Of Zelda BOTW style for the new colors. Thanks again for all the awesome feedbacks guys ! https://www.artstation.com/artwork/LbDmr
This is looking great. Nice job on the textures. Right now the only thing that bothers me is the tree to the left of the house. The leaves have the same color as the roof which makes it a little harder to read the shape of the house imo. Works a lot better on the right side. Maybe even out the color scheme of the vegetation a bit more to make it all feel a bit more connected. Nice job though, really like it

Focus on your overall color scheme too. The grass hue and trees don't seem to live in the same biome. Be neat to see them be more cohesive.
The house model is looking good.
Like @tomenjerry says refining the textures will help when the viewer is closer. It creates multiple levels of interest.
