Hello everyone, so I made a Fox in 3Ds Max to use in Unreal
Engine’s sequencer. I’m actually paying an animator to do the sequence for me. I
sent him the model and he rigged it. He used Maya for the rigging. I plan on
using Nvidia hairworks for the fur shader in Unreal. However, I’m wondering,
how do I get the splines…
Hey guys! long time since i've posted here, got a question for you all, Currently managed to get a job at a new studio! and they didn't like the fact I used blender (more preferred me to use maya) so i've been using maya now for about a month, (not really allowed to setup hotkeys etc) i've set up a few hotkeys just to make…
I'm trying to learn a bit of Maya modeling so that I can be self sufficient when it comes to creating super basic assets for my game development. I'm trying to understand skeletal rigging and how it modifies the model geometry itself. I've got the most basic model - a cube with proportions that make it into a 3D rectangle.…
I haven't used Maya in a few years (primarily a Max user), and have apparently forgotten some things. Was wondering if some of you Maya modelers could answer some questions for me: -Does maya have an easy way to make individual meshs transparent in the viewport, like in 3DSMax, or is it still necessary to use a script /…
Current maya-usd version already supports MaterialX, you'll even see the mtlx shaders previewing in the viewport of maya. Additionally Arnold renderer also started supporting materialx from USD. So you can already start using USD in maya with materialX, and render using Arnold. But when it comes to editing/authoring…
In Maya there's an option to draw thicker lines in the viewport. As Im using a hi res display it's much better for me to have the thicker lines however Maya forgets this settings. I have this MEL code: string $visPanels[] = `getPanel -vis`; modelEditor -e -lineWidth 2 $visPanels; But can't seem to find a way to exceute it…
I think there's a tool that let's you change the axis based on different things... Local Tool maybe? I haven't used Maya in a while so I wouldn't really know. heh.
Hey guys I know this is a topic that we can discuss endlessly. I've been using Maya since I started my 3D Game Art Journey. Now, all the crazy models / weapons / hard surface art I see on Artstation was mainly made within 3dsMax. I love Maya. It's interface makes so much sense and it's easy to navigate and I'm very fast in…
Hi everyone, I've been using 3DS Max for the last two years, but had used Maya off and on before that. I have an interview with a developer who only uses Maya, and so far it's sounding really good. So I wanted to get a jump on getting back into Maya, but find that I'm a bit rusty. Does anyone have any suggestions for…
