i only paint on normal maps when its time to clean them up or tweak stuff. After a while you kinda memorize what colors do what and you can better judge what to paint where. also 128,128,255 is the generic normal map color. Use it to paint out seams, errors ect.
First problem: Smart phone camera. * Unless you went into advance camera settings and set exposure, focal length and white balance same. This is an expected outcome for texture in MS, Try this dataset in Reality Capture as its more forgiving. * Before building mesh in MetaShape, check the quality of your tie points and do…
Number 26 Getting close to the end and my god do I have a long way to go after this challenge, I can see where I went wrong but brain can't figure out how to fix them, trial and error with feedback is the way forward though, still having a lot of fun with this challenge.
regarding the height .. painter will use the normal map and also generate normals from the height and blend that in so when you export a material to painter you want to choose one or the other . it looks like your normal direction is different between painter and designer in this example - I'd suggest you leave the normal…
Also you can always export a hi poly model and transfer/ borrow normal directions from it. I do so with model copy dynameshed in Zbrush to tiny polygons. Max doesn't have a native tool for normals transfer but there are 3d party scripts starting with normal theft . Or you can always do it with data transfer in Blender…
"... huge problem" "... inaccurate" These are very strong, but also undocumented claims. If you are running into such problematic bugs you need to document them, write precise repro steps, and bring them up to the attention of the devs. If these are indeed bugs they will eventually get fixed. And if they are merely user…
I was wondering if there is any way you can flip a mirrored (red) UV-shell in Maya so that it becomes blue without changing the direction of it? I sort of just want to force Maya to say it's not mirrored, or red, anymore. I'm sorry for any grammatical errors, english is not my main language, but I appreciate if someone…
Hey folks, I'm on windows 8, using/learning dDo for the last few days and I seem to be having a lot more issues/problems than my coworkder who is using Windows 7. I'm sure part of the problem is user error, but I'm trying to narrow down the source of my problems. So yeah, is dDo working well for Windows 8 users out there?
Hi, I am on a Mac Book Pro running Mac OS Sierra. When I am using the text tool, the font selection is very odd... It dosen't reflect the system fonts, and there is lot of Chinese character names for some of the fonts?! I am guessing there is some error in loading the system fonts correctly. See screenshot for an example:
Normal maps are actually used in films too but only for fine details. About the quads - They still get triangulated at render time, but on such high poly meshes, they get triangulated better and the "errors" are not visible. While they can show up visibly on low poly meshes. Normal maps and triangulation is also closely…
