I'm using Maya's transfer maps tool and it's giving me some strange results on the border edges. Included is the normal map. Hi poly cube in front, lo poly in back. Obviously, along the cube's border edges are some wild and hideous results. The normal map illustrates the wonky results, I just don't know how to smooth that…
Hello! Newbie at 3D art here. I'm also new to these forums, so please forgive me if I'm posting in the wrong section. Let me start off by summarizing my issue. Basically, what I've been trying to do is bake down smooth edges from a high poly model, onto a low poly model without Face Weighted Normals. The low poly mesh has…
auto weld where it just welds it between 2 verts on an edge, welds extra vert coming in to the edge line and auto calculates a turnable edge, any poly tool out there?
Looks like you triangulated your highpoly? Either way, the constricting edge on that flat plane doesn't follow the edge nicely. Try insetting the top plane once to make that edge uniform.
So I have a cube and I have used the crease edge tool on it. I have now deleted the history but the creased edges still show the thick lines. I know there's a way to delete this creasing data but I can't remember for the life of me how to do it?
Hey, Currently plowing through a tutorial and for some reason edges stay selected even when I've got nothing selected in the scene. The edges seems to stay a light brown colour. Is this just weird display issue in Maya or does it mean something more? Cheers, Scott
Is it possible to make border edges a different colour. I know that you can make them thicker than regular edges, but I'd like them to be a different colour.
Hello everyone. I'm having trouble baking normal maps. This time it's simply in one specific application. Whenever I get black edges I snap my fingers and say "ah, I bet I forgot to split the UV's." However there was no snapping to be had and the edges were still as black as ever. I go down my usual checklist compiled from…
I have modeled in 3ds max for 10 years and went to Maya 4 years ago and have not minded it except for when I bridge edges. When I do this it produces double edges. This really isnt an issue for a rendermesh but if you are creating a bake mesh for enlighten or baking normals then it becomes a real problem. Is there a…
Hello everyone - Does anybody know if there is a way to use decals strips which only contain normal information to smooth the edges of a mesh beneath it - so you would achieve the same results as face weighted normals without the mesh being chamfered but relying on the decal strips to provide the normal information for…
