This could help. http://wiki.polycount.com/wiki/Hair_card HOnestlyt he only way i've done it is i by hand, Thats how you get the best results imo. I know theres a new houdini way too, you might try that.
Happy Monday! I hope everyone had an epic weekend! After doing some initial Zbrush test sculpts, I thought there had to be a better way of doing this. So I started experimenting with Houdini.....The idea is that I could create a tool that could generate rocks similar to my sculpts seen in the post above. So, the way the…
I've found lot's of scifi-ish, robot-ish and similar kits, but i was looking for weapon parts. Not just small parts, but things like handles, muzzles, etc. I'm writing a small procedural workflow in Houdini and i'm planning to build up those weapons based on a few rules.
There is no shortcut to decent procedural generation. If you're serious about generating a lot of stuff and want to build systems go with Houdini and accept you're going to have to either learn a lot or hire someone to do the work. If you want powerful instancing, non destructive modelling and free uvs then use Max, learn…
There are couple problems with your normals. From top to bottom: - left side of your geometry after I oriented all normals in Houdini - left side of you geometry directly after I downloaded it - right side of your geometry after I oriented all normals in Houdini. Notice that there is a big problem with you polygon where…
For the 3D-printed look that's definitely a great alternative that I've thought about too. But the CNC cuts are different. I'm also thinking that I might be able to get the path out as a SVG vector, and trough Houdini create a flowmap to bend normals for that anisotropic behaviour.
I'm asking this question for curiosity, does anyone use Houdini as their main software instead of something else like Maya, Blender etc. ? And what is your opinion about it ? I'm especially interested in the modeling aspect of it and to hear your opinion about the new direct modeling tools ( the radial menu stuff ) and…
Hi guys, i'm trying to create from a mesh a reticular structure using the edges as guide in 3ds max, i've first tried with the Lattice modifier of 3ds max but it lack of a proper connection on the vertices it simple create a cylinder shape along the edge but it do not create a connection where two or more edges met (on the…
Hello, TL;DR: Is it a good idea to build this machine for houdini, cpu/gpu hybrid rendering and nuke? Ryzen 7590x 1x RTX 4070 (upgrade to 2 later) MSI MPG X670E CARBON 128 gb ddr5 Ram 2x m2 drives. 1 for boot (500gb) and 1for project files(2tb, ok maybe also games) 2x 4tb Sata for raid0 (simulation data) arctic freezer II…
